Live in the Moment

Author Anna Quindlen reminds us not to rush past the fleeting moments. She said: “The biggest mistake I made [as a parent] is the one that most of us make. . . . I did not live in the moment enough. This is particularly clear now that the moment is gone, captured only in photographs. There is one picture of [my three children] sitting in the grass on a quilt in the shadow of the swing set on a summer day, ages six, four, and one. And I wish I could remember what we ate, and what we talked about, and how they sounded, and how they looked when they slept that night. I wish I had not been in such a hurry to get on to the next thing: dinner, bath, book, bed. I wish I had treasured the doing a little more and the getting it done a little less”(Loud and Clear [2004], 10–11).

Cole’s birthday party

Cole had his party at the fair! :)
He wanted blue monster cupcakes!

He opened a few more presents from Grandpa & Grandma Bowie.

Then the kiddos decorated some monster cupcakes.

They ended up looking like strange Cookie Monsters instead. ha! ;)

Happy Birthday our little Cole Man! We love you!

Cole is imaginative. He is always pretending he is a dog or cat or chipmunk.
He loves to play. He fears nothing. (That makes me nervous!)
Loves to play with friends. Loves the park.
He’s fast! He loves Transformers. He loves the Lego Movie.
He can write his name all by himself. He’s a smartie.
He’s not shy! He’ll go up & introduce himself to just about anyone.
He loves to swim, and he does an awesome cannonball.
He loves to snuggle with his momma. Sometimes he talks like Stitch from Lilo & Stitch.
He is Rylan’s shadow, and he will do anything & everything his big brother does.
He had bright eyes, & he always has a smile on his face!

Today is my birthday!

Cole’s birthday always falls on the fair week!
He doesn’t seem to mind though. ;)
We started this morning with cinnimon rolls & donuts.
He got to open his presents!
He got a Transformer & the Wall-E movie & game. :)

Pig Show

Rylan showed his pig, Tottie for the first time at the fair.
They did awesome. Tottie won 3rd & then she won
the grand champion in the Hereford breed. (She was the only one!) ;)

the shiner

Clay got a big a black eye this past weekend.
He was working on his dad’s truck & part fell on his eye! :(
